Challenging What’s Possible with HCI

Pivot3 recognized as a Challenger in the first-ever Gartner Magic Quadrant for Hyperconverged Infrastructure

In prior years, Gartner’s Magic Quadrant for Integrated Systems evaluated vendors within four classes of integrated systems: integrated infrastructure systems (IIS), integrated stack systems (ISS), hyperconverged integrated systems (HCIS) and integrated reference architectures (IRA). There are four important changes in this year’s Magic Quadrant when compared to the “Magic Quadrant for Integrated Systems” published in 2016. This Magic Quadrant:

  • Focuses exclusively on vendors and offerings in the hyperconverged software segment.
  • Drops the system hardware requirement, which is part of the HCIS appliance model.
  • Defines the market segment as hyperconverged infrastructure, allowing for software-only/bring-your-own-hardware, and as-a-service cloud delivery models.
  • Limits the evaluation of integrated storage and data management capabilities to those technologies for which vendors have primary development responsibility and ownership.

In the 2018 Gartner Magic Quadrant for HCI, Pivot3 is recognized as a Challenger, based on our ability to execute and completeness of vision. We believe this represents significant recognition of our ability to execute, which was one of our primary goals for this year’s application.

Moving on From Integrated Systems and Accelerating Our Ability to Execute

Our placement in this year’s HCI quadrant validates our strategy of focusing on our global reach, integrating our acquisition of NexGen Storage, our channel and distribution strategy, support for large customers, and market awareness and visibility. We have established our position in the top category by anticipating the market’s needs and delivering innovation.

Defining Pivot3’s Position

This indicates that Pivot3 is regarded as a safe bet for customers who are seeking competitive advantage through agile operations and product innovation. Pivot3 is placed with Cisco and Huawei, which we believe is quite an achievement for a private company. Additionally, Pivot3 is the only privately held and “pure-play” HCI vendors, which is a testament to our agility, dedication and responsiveness to customer needs. Customers know they can count on Pivot3 to continue to deliver state-of-the-art innovation in HCI and the level of customer intimacy we are known for.

At Pivot3, we believe we have the innovation, people and strategy to challenge the world’s largest technology companies. While the other brands included are household names today, we are considered among this same group of vendors due to our ability to execute and completeness of vision, resulting in our ability to meet the needs of the most demanding customers in the world.

Looking Ahead

2017 was an exceptional year for growth, with a company-record 2nd half, dramatic market acceptance of our Acuity platform, our cloud capabilities, expanded platform support, go-to-market collaboration with JCI/Tyco, PCM, Lenovo, Milestone, ISS and others, customer growth in both Federal and commercial business, and our emerging leadership in Smart Cities/Safe Cities/IoT use cases. Read more about our 2017 momentum here.

In addition to our expansion into multi-use case deployments, we have increased penetration into large enterprise and Fortune 1000 companies, with nearly 60 percent of our revenue coming from that segment. We also continue to experience strong demand for  our Acuity HCI platform, with the sales pipeline increasing by more than 250 percent from Q3 to Q4 and deal sizes continuing to rise.

2017 was a banner year for growth, progress and innovation. We matured as a company, became hyper-focused on delivering a new generation of hyperconvergence to market, while diving into new markets overlooked by larger vendors, like smart and safe cities. With our strong foundation in place, we’re well-poised to take advantage of our position in this market and execute on our vision to support high-end enterprise computing with intelligent and autonomous management across hybrid cloud environments.
