Pivot3 Launches VMware View Channel Ready Program
VDI specialist to add sixty authorized distribution resellers
LAS VEGAS - VMware Partner Exchange 2012 (booth 206) – February 13, 2012 - Pivot3, a VMware Rapid Desktop Program certified supplier of unified storage and compute appliances for the SMB market, today announced its Channel Ready program with a plan to add sixty VMware solution providers during the next six months. Pivot3 virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) appliances provide a pre-configured VMware View™ virtual desktop environment that is simple, affordable and channel consumable – creating a unique recurring revenue opportunity for channel partners.
Pivot3 vSTAC VDI Channel Ready product
The Pivot3 Channel Ready program for VMware View provides VMware Premiere resellers with a unique opportunity to drive additional revenue through the sale of pre-configured View Pivot3 vSTAC™ VDI appliances. In particular, those resellers focused on 100 to 1,000 desktop deployments, will find the Pivot3 VMware certified solution to be more enterprise reliable and scalable than competing offerings and yet offer simple, plug-and-play deploy ability.
"VMware View™ enables organizations of all sizes to deliver a more secure, centrally managed virtual desktop to their employees," said Vittorio Viarengo, vice president, End-User Computing, VMware. "Working with our partners, VMware is making it even easier for customers to enjoy the advantages of VDI. Together with Pivot3, we have qualified new, ready-to-deploy desktop virtualization solutions that are tailored to meet the unique needs of small-and-medium businesses (SMBs) and public sector customers."
Pivot3 has targeted their solution for the SMB customer who wants to start small and grow incrementally without platform disruption. Traditionally this segment has been constrained by challenges associated with the cost and configuration of storage area networks (SANs) and network attached storage (NAS).
"Our partners love the margin opportunity that comes from providing the SAN for free with our vSTAC VDI appliances," said Lee Caswell, founder and CSO of Pivot3. "In addition, since we also ship a pre-installed and configured "View-in-a-box" appliance this further increases margin by reducing configuration time and support costs."
Commenting on its first Pivot3 deployment, Jason Green, managing director of Building Zones, a Pivot3 reseller in the UK, said, "Until now, there hasn’t been a VDI solution on the market dedicated to providing enterprise-quality IT that meets the needs of the small and mid-market businesses. These types of customers need the plug-and-play solution that can scale as needed and fits with their IT budgets and goals. Pivot3 consolidates server and storage resources into a single hardware platform, therefore it becomes much easier to deploy and much cheaper to maintain."
Recently the Enterprise Strategy Group also benchmarked and tested the Pivot3 joint solution. "ESG Labs observed that the vSTAC VDI solution rapidly scaled from 300 to 800 desktops, ran without interruption through multiple component failures, and recovered gracefully from a simulated node outage," said ESG Lab Senior Engineer, Tony Palmer. "Integration with advanced VMware functionality such as vMotion, Distributed Resource Scheduler, and HA failover was seamless."
Pivot3 vSTAC VDI Channel Ready program
The Pivot3 VDI Channel Ready program consists of many unique elements designed to maximize lead opportunity and qualification for partners. Beyond the traditional online resources, there are unique online tools for VDI self-configuration and ROI analysis. Additionally, prospects can "Test Drive" a live, hosted 300 to 400 desktop scenario complete with workload simulation, login storms, scale-out of desktops and performance reporting. The Channel Ready program is also designed to eliminate channel conflict and enhance sell-though with all VMware and Microsoft license revenues flowing to the resellers. In addition, deal registration is available to partners.
